HR Quimper Pair of Raviers Circa 1910 (J)

Pair of raviers, 8-1/2” diameter, the curled sides 1-1/2” up from the base, making them suitable to use as shallow serving dishes. There are several old repairs on the outer rims: he has one at 3 o’clock, another at 5 o’clock; she has one at 6:30 o’clock.  Not perfect, but good enough so that we missed seeing them entirely! These pretty pieces could be used to serve nuts or candy very nicely (just be sure to hand wash!) or upright on a shelf - their imperfections would be not seen at all. S: HR Quimper, on the front, ca. 1910.

French Faience Bookends Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf Circa 1930-50. (J)

Book ends, together they are 11” long, 4” wide, 7-3/4” high (to the top of “Grandmother’s” ears). These are the most delightful bookends to cross our path in many a long day! Little Red Riding Hood knocks on one bookend door, and the Wolf, rigged out as Grandmother, peers out over the other. From her costume, we deduce these were done in the 1930-50s. There are no identifying marks, so we will not even hazard a guess as to where in France they were made, just that they are in excellent condition, and all ready to grace a shelf of children’s books, or cookbooks, or reference books about French faience.

Book Bank Circa 1870 (J)

Book bank, 6” long, 3-3/4” wide, 1-1/2” thick. Its purpose is self-evident with the title, "Economie",  printed on the spine. It was clearly well-used, as evidenced by the minor chipping around the coin slot (which we chose to leave as is). However, we did have our restorer put the little buckled band back to its original state, hence, the three red dots on the bottom. No factory mark, too early, but clearly AP, ca. 1870. It deserves a special place on shelf or table where we have no doubt it will be much admired.
