Pair of Small Plates, 4” diameter. The essence of charmingly rustic Quimper, ca. 1905. For a shelf of miniatures, or many table uses: butter, jam, cookies…and they have been well-used! Completely original, but a bit of rimwear on each. Further, she has an interesting blob underneath of ??? glaze, goo…something that is part of the original firing, so we chose to ignore it, as it in no way interferes with her usefulness. Bowls, 6” diameter across scalloped rim, 3” diameter on footed base. A lovely pair, just right for cereal or soup, their usefulness further enhanced by being pierced to hang. So: decorative, as well as functional. They are ca. 1920, and in superb condition for their age…he has a couple of faint glaze rubs on the rim, but nothing that would prevent careful use (and hand washing). Heart-shaped Barometer, 6 7/8” high, 6 ¾” across widest point, 2” deep. At the turn of the last century, the delaHubaudiere factory used this form as a clock case, and, as here, a barometer case. The finely-detailed figures are typical of their best work at that period; the laurel wreath at the top frames the coat-of-arms of Brittany. This is completely original, and would be a charming addition to a desk or shelf of books. Ca. 1900, in perfect condition. $500, plus $30 for shipping. Heart-shaped Snuff: 3” long, 2 ½” across, 1 ½” deep. This is a stout heart, indeed! Unsigned, probably AP, ca. 1875, it is in beautiful condition, with just the merest fleck of glaze at the mouth, on the rooster side. There are also several tiny glaze pops in the dark blue surround, but they are original to the firing, and we never change those. This is one of the best of all the snuff variations: rooster on one side, beautiful daisy on the other, and a plump shape to hold in the palm of one’s hand and admire….an irresistible Valentine, for sure. $300, plus $15 for shipping.
