Picture frame, 9-1/2” high, 7” across, 4” depth. A handsome easel, with a 2-1/2”x 3-1/2” opening for a special picture or memento to set within the frame. We love the paint daubs and the brush colors, reminding us that this, too, was painted by an artist! Two books tabatières each approximately 2” x 2-1/2” x 3/4”, each with a petit Breton on one side, a floral motif on the other. Little spray of flowers motif. S: HB Quimper, ca. 1905. In perfect condition, missing only some glaze around the cork hole (which was never there, so we do not change that.) Pansy motif, says “Amities” on the spine, no other signature, probably also HB, ca. 1890. Had very minor professional conservation, hence our restorer’s three red dots. Set of Quimper Cotriade Bowls for the Breton fish stew - essentially chunks of fish and potatoes in a light broth - hence this shallow shape is ideal. They are 8-1/2" diameter, 1-1/2" deep. Three of them are signed HB Quimper SOCOTREVI-CONCARNEAU, one simply HB Quimper (these all have artist's initials and F. and D. numeration), and two have no signatures at all. SOCOTREVI was a cannery (sardines, mackerel, tuna) on the edge of Concarneau that closed in 1968. The plates were part of what was almost certainly a special order for the cannery, most likely in the 1960s.
