Plate, 9” diameter. First period Porquier Beau, ca. 1890,
and signed with their intersecting P and B on the back. Handsome Rouen-derived
border frames the bold blazon of L’Orient, a city on the Brittany coast,
about an hour and a half from Quimper. It was from this port that, long ago,
ships sailed to and from the far east, trading in spices and porcelains. This
plate would be a handsome addition to a collection of the armorial crests
of Brittany. In perfect condition, $300, plus $15 shipping.
